Sleep Disorders Center at Four Points by Sheraton

Sleep Disorders Center at Four Points by Sheraton

The CMC Sleep Disorders Center at Four Points by Sheraton is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Our focus on patient care has allowed us to grow from a single sleep lab into a leading provider of sleep and neurophysiology services located within a comfortable premiere hotel setting. Our team offers an interdisciplinary program with a coordinated approach for a variety of sleep disorders and related conditions.

Drowsy Days and Dreamless Nights

There are many sleep disorders that can cause excessive daytime sleepiness or fatigue. Many times, patients are unaware that they are having sleep problems such as apnea or periodic limb movements during sleep that cause you to be tired during the day. Often, your bed partner may be aware of these problems, but, in some cases, the problems are subtle and can only be identified by a trained sleep specialist with proper testing.

Regardless of what is keeping you awake at night, we can treat a variety of sleep disorders including:

Do I need a Sleep Study?

Evaluation

A personal sleep evaluation is the first step to sleeping better. A sleep evaluation begins with an office visit with one of our sleep specialists. During this visit, an extensive health history, physical exam and interview will be conducted. If possible, bring your bed partner along for the interview as they can answer questions about your sleep patterns that many times you cannot.

What is a Sleep Study?

A sleep study is called a Polysomnogram or PSG. These tests are performed in our sleep center in a quiet, peaceful hotel-like room where we can monitor your brain waves and several parameters to detect sleep disorders.  There is no pain involved during a sleep study and every effort to maintain your normal sleep routing is made during your stay.

Why Conduct a Sleep Study in a Hotel?

Sleep studies have historically taken place within clinical sleep laboratories. These controlled environments allow clinicians to monitor your sleep patterns, brain waves, heart rate, breathing, and other physiological markers. However, clinical settings like this may inadvertently influence your sleep, potentially skewing the results.

Recognizing this limitation, Conway Medical Center is employing alternative environments that mimic the familiarity and comfort of home. The Four Points by Sheraton in Myrtle Beach, with its cozy rooms, plush beds, and quiet surroundings, offers accommodations for conducting sleep studies that reflect more natural sleep conditions.

The Benefits

Realistic Sleep Environment: The hotel provides an environment that more closely resembles your home sleeping conditions. This can yield more authentic data regarding sleep habits and patterns.

Reduced Anxiety: Clinical settings can be intimidating for some individuals, leading to anxiety that affects their sleep. The hotel, on the other hand, offers a more relaxing atmosphere that may alleviate this stress.

Enhanced Sleep Quality: Participants often report experiencing better sleep quality in our hotel setting, possibly due to the familiarity and comfort the environment provides.

By replicating home-like conditions, we can gain deeper insights into your sleep patterns and potential disorders, and ultimately create better sleep-related interventions and treatments to help you get a better night’s sleep.
