Cardiac Rehabilitation is a series of sessions supervised by health care professionals that are geared toward helping improve your heart health. For example, you’ll participate in exercise programs, gain nutritional information and benefit from other aspects of our Cardiac Rehabilitation program. 

Cardiac Rehabilitation program sessions are held three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, for up to three months in the Rehabilitation Services Building which is directly across from CMC Emergency Department, formally the Wellness & Fitness Center, which follows guidelines set forth by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).

Cardiac Rehabilitation also involves supervised exercise therapy. 

Supervised Exercise Therapy (SET) is a program for patients diagnosed with Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) and have pain with walking caused by blockages in the peripheral arteries.  

Patients will work closely with Registered Nurses, exercise physiologists, dietitians and stress management counselors to build their individualized SET program.  Walking is the primary exercise in the SET program.  Increasing walking speed and grade over time promotes peripheral circulation and endurance.  

In addition to the supervised exercise, SET also assists patients with implementing lifestyle modifications to reduce risk factors for PAD and other diseases.

To participate in SET, a physician referral is required. SET is covered by Medicare and most insurers* for 36 visits. Please note that insurance coverage will depend upon details of the individual’s coverage.
