Alicia Sanderson, MD is a double board-certified Otolaryngologist and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. She retired as a Captain in the United States Navy. Dr. Sanderson completed her undergraduate training at the University of New Hampshire, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a major in Zoology. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1999 and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in her third year of Medical School. Doctor Sanderson completed her first year of residency training in General Surgery at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego in 2000 and was awarded “Surgery Intern of the Year”. Doctor Sanderson completed her residency training in Otolaryngology at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego where she received many national and local awards and publications for her research. Upon completing her residency training, she was accepted for fellowship training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Doctor Sanderson completed her fellowship at the University of California, Irvine in 2008.
Following her fellowship, Dr. Sanderson was assigned to the Otolaryngology Clinic at Fort Belvoir, VA. In addition to providing general and subspecialty surgical care, Doctor Sanderson has served as Chief of Otolaryngology Service DeWitt Hospital (2010-2011), Chief of Otolaryngology Service Fort Belvoir Hospital (2011-2014), Assistant Chair of the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff (2013-2014), Chief of the Medical Staff (2014-2015) and Director of Surgical Services Fort Belvoir Hospital (2015-2018). Doctor Sanderson was hand-selected as the Otolaryngology Consultant to the White House in 2013 and has served in that position until her retirement in 2019. She was named White House consultant of the Year in 2017.
At Conway Medical Center Ear Nose and Throat, Dr. Sanderson is a staff Otolaryngologist-Head and Neck Surgeon. She performs general Ear Nose and Throat surgery on pediatric and adult patients with a specialty in facial plastics and reconstruction including functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty, cosmetic procedures, and facial cancer reconstruction.
