CMC Opens New Sleep Disorders Center in Boutique Hotel
Conway Medical Center has opened the first hotel-based sleep study lab in our area. This new and expanded sleep disorders center offers six testing rooms.
The CMC Sleep Disorders Center in the Four Points by Sheraton Myrtle Beach offers patients a hotel-like experience with the goal of providing a stress-free environment to promote sleep and decrease anxiety around medical testing. The expansion will provide needed testing with less wait time.
“This expanded sleep center provides greater access to testing which is a critical aspect of sleep medicine. The hotel environment has a goal of promoting sleep in a comfortable environment which can overcome the anxiety of sleeping away from home in a medical environment. This relocation is a reflection of the dedication CMC has to quality patient care,” said Dr. Hafez Hayek, board certified in sleep medicine and the Medical Director of the CMC Sleep Disorders Center.
According to the National Institutes of Health, about 50 to 70 million Americans have sleep disorders, and 1 in 3 adults do not regularly get the recommended amount of uninterrupted sleep they need to protect their health.
“Not getting enough sleep is linked to many chronic diseases and conditions including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and depression. The lack of sleep can also lead to injury and disability from motor vehicle crashes and mistakes at work,” said Dr. Hayek.
The Sleep Disorders Center also offers home sleep testing, base line overnight testing, complex titration studies, and narcolepsy testing during the day time.
“We’re excited to partner with Four Points by Sheraton to bring this unique experience to our community. Two areas we that are critical to us at Conway Medical Center are customer service and quality. With this new partnership we’ll be able to continue providing high quality care while delivering exceptional service and experiences. In addition, this partnership allowed us to expand access to this wonderful service so we can see more patients,” said Brian Argo, CMC president and CEO.
The CMC Sleep Disorders Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The CMC SDC has a dedicated history in the area and is known for taking complex cases.
