2024 Healthcare Worker of the Year – Clinical
William Harrell, (Billy), began his career at CMC in September of 2001 where he worked as an Anesthesia aide while attending nursing school at Horry Georgetown Tech. He received his degree as a Registered Nurse in 2005. It was then that he transferred to the Operating Room and began his role as a Perioperative Registered Nurse. He has been an integral part of building the orthopedic and spine teams and contributed to the success of the Total Joint Program.
Professionally, Billy has been a mentor and preceptor for new staff. He has been a charge nurse, achieved his certification (CNOR) as an Operating Room nurse, is a member of AORN (Association of Operating Room Nurses), has been an active clinical ladder participant and has served on the Radiology Safety Committee.
When he is not at CMC, Billy is a dedicated husband and father, an active member of his church, known as a loyal friend and coworker.
2024 Healthcare Worker of the Year – Non-Clinical
Barbara Richardson has been a CMC employee for the past 10 years. She started her career in the Conway system as an administrative leader in one of the local physician’s offices, and then transitioned over to full-time employment with CMC when that practice was sold to CMC several years ago. Since 2015, she has worked tirelessly in the Medical Staff Office as a Credentialing Specialist. In her role, she is responsible for verifying the qualifications and credentials of all our medical professionals, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
She plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity and safety of patient care by facilitating the credentialing process for doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other licensed healthcare providers. Her work ensures that all medical staff meet the necessary educational, professional, and licensure requirements to provide high-quality healthcare services to our patients. With her loyalty, dependability, attention to detail and organizational skills, she helps support Conway Medical Center’s mission to deliver exceptional care to the community.
Richardson was born and raised in the Gresham, SC community where she continues to reside with her family. When she is not at CMC, she loves to work around her house, as she is very handy with any home improvement project, and she especially enjoys time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandson!
