Tanger Outlets Campaign Donates to CMC Foundation
CONWAY, SC– The Conway Medical Center (CMC) Foundation received a donation of $22,300 from Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Myrtle Beach in a presentation ceremony held at CMC on December 21, 2017.
The money was raised throughout October as part of the 24th annual Tanger Pink Campaign. Shoppers who purchased a Pink card for $10 could save 25 percent in participating stores while helping to unite in the fight against breast cancer. The proceeds will support CMC Foundation’s Mammography Initiative which was developed to assist women in the CMC service area who cannot financially obtain necessary health screenings such as mammograms and other clinical breast examinations.
“It’s truly a blessing to our patients to be the recipient of these funds again,” said Terry Egan, Executive Director of the CMC Foundation. “We know that women often lack the time and encouragement to get mammograms, and so often economic barriers compound these issues, but they shouldn’t. Through our foundation these funds will provide free mammograms to those who haven’t had the means to get one. Without question this donation from Tanger Outlets is going to save lives in our community.”
It is the goal of Conway Medical Center to improve women’s health by offering the opportunity to detect early signs of breast cancer or other diseases. Through funds raised by local Tanger Outlets’, CMC Foundation’s Mammography Initiative will be able to provide approximately 300 mammograms for women who would otherwise never have the opportunity for life saving care. There is additional funding available to women who need further procedures such as biopsies and ultrasounds. Since the program was introduced in October of 2005, CMC Foundation has paid over $500,000 in services.
