Conway Medical Center Receives $685,000 Grant from The Duke Endowment
Conway, SC: Conway Medical Center (CMC) has received a $685,000 grant from The Duke Endowment to fund a mobile 3D mammography van for three years. This grant will allow CMC to bring cutting edge 3D mammography technology to low-income, uninsured patients throughout Horry County.
Conway Medical Center’s goal is to improve women’s health by offering the opportunity to detect early signs of breast cancer through a mobile 3D mammography unit. Women who live and work in rural areas of Horry County and have limited transportation or access to healthcare services will be able to take advantage of this convenient service.
The mobile 3D mammography program will expand upon Conway Medical Center’s Healthreach program which provides potentially lifesaving screening services to the medically uninsured and underinsured. The Healthreach program is funded by donations to the Conway Medical Center Foundation.
“This grant will allow us to establish a mobile unit to deliver our innovative imaging services directly into underserved communities,” said Bret Barr, President and CEO of Conway Medical Center. “This will build upon the outstanding services already offered at CMC’s Breast Health Center. We are very pleased and thankful for the Duke Endowment grant and know it will help us achieve our goal of increasing access to mammograms all across Horry County.”
