CMC Recognizes Breastfeeding Month & World Breastfeeding Week
Did you know that breast milk provides a child with key nutrients and antibodies that help them fight off illness, develop immunity, and lowers the risk of conditions such as ear infections, asthma and intestinal problems like diarrhea?
That’s right! At Conway Medical Center, we recommend exclusive breastfeeding without the use of infant formula or other dietary substitutes (unless directed by your doctor) for the first six months because of the medical and psychological benefits for baby and mother. It’s a natural way to bond with your baby and to provide your baby with the best nutrition possible. And it’s free!
Recognizing August as National Breastfeeding Month and August 1 – 7 as World Breastfeeding Week, CMC is encouraging new and expecting mothers to consider the healthy benefits of breastfeeding for both baby and mom. If you have questions about breastfeeding, ask your doctor or nurse. You might also find it helpful to talk to our International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. You can schedule an appointment for a lactation consult with an IBCLC by calling 843-234-5037.
