CMC receives grants totaling $1,115,000 from The Duke Endowment
Conway Medical Center (CMC) has received two grants totaling $1,115,000 from The Duke Endowment to fund the expansion of a community network of care for the low-income, uninsured in Horry County and the advancement of serious illness care at CMC.
A $500,000 grant will be used to expand a community network of care for the low-income, uninsured in Horry County. These much-needed funds will help to provide access to quality care for the underserved and vulnerable populations throughout Horry County. Access Health Horry will be managing and facilitating these programs.
A $615,000 grant will be used to advance and integrate serious illness care within our oncology department and increase support for patients and families managing the impact of serious illness. These funds will allow for increased serious illness care support staff, education and training, improved data collection, and compassionate communication to provide a true circle of complete cancer care.
“We are grateful to The Duke Endowment for their continued and passionate support for advancing healthcare excellence in our community. Conway Medical Center has a long-standing tradition of providing award-winning care as part of our commitment to improving health and saving lives. The support of The Endowment allows us to continue in that mission,” said Bret Barr, President and CEO of Conway Medical Center. “Thank you also to our CMC Foundation for leading the efforts and to all of our staff involved in making this happen.”
“The Duke Endowment is pleased to partner with health systems that are focused on improving outcomes and reducing health disparities in their communities,” said Lin Hollowell, director of the Endowment’s Health Care program area. “By expanding access to essential services and support, these two grants will allow Conway Medical Center to provide more residents with timely care.”
