GENERAL
The Family Medicine program in accordance with the American Board Family Medicine guideline allows for a maximum of twenty (20) business days per contract year for paid time off (PTO) including vacation, holidays, professional and sick leave. Taking more than twenty (20) business days off per contract year may require extending the academic year. PLEASE NOTE
Time off requests must be submitted for approval 60 days prior to the date of leave. Vacation requests are only considered for vacation eligible blocks and days missed on required rotations are subject to remediation unless otherwise approved. CME requests must include conference brochures and schedules. PTO breakdown: 10 – Vacation, Personal, Conference; 6 – Holidays if in clinic; 4 sick days
If call coverage is needed, the requesting resident will be responsible for finding coverage and relaying the information to the chief resident(s) who will make the appropriate changes to the call schedule and forward to the PC.
Sick leave for future appointments will need to be approved as soon as the appointment is made and arrangements for coverage, if required, will need to be made prior to approval.
