Cardiac Catheterization

Cardiac Catheterization

Our Cardiac Catheterization Lab Helps Diagnose and Treat Heart Conditions

What Is a Cardiac Catheterization?

Cardiac catheterization is a procedure used to diagnose and treat a wide variety of heart and cardiovascular conditions.  This procedure involves passing a thin flexible tube (catheter) into the right or left side of the heart, usually from the groin or the arm. This technique allows our expert team of cardiologists in our cardiac catheterization lab to diagnose and treat conditions like coronary artery disease, valve disease, vascular disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and congenital heart defects, among others.

  • No. A cardiac catheterization is not a major surgical procedure. During a cardiac cath, there are no large incisions, and the chest cavity is not opened. The recovery time from a cardiac catheterization is much shorter than the recovery time from a major surgery.

    Heart Attacks: Time is Muscle

Did you know that during a heart attack time=muscle?  The faster you receive treatment for a heart attack the more muscle you save.  At Conway Medical Center, our team of interventional cardiologists in our cardiac catheterization lab is here to do just that!

The CMC cardiac catheterization lab is now providing a much wider scope of services than ever before.  We are able to provide 24-7 support to the community for emergency treatment of myocardial infarction (heart attack) and provide elective treatment for cardiovascular disease.

More patients are now able to stay closer to home and get the care they deserve when they need it.

    High-Tech Care

Conway Medical Center was the first health system in the Southeast to introduce the Philips Allura Xper SZ10.  This state-of-the-art technology allows us to improve cardiac care, and make earlier and more decisive treatment plans, with the ability to have a comprehensive team involved. During an emergency, our team of experts are able to quickly diagnose and treat, saving lives and heart muscle.

CMC’s Cardiac Catheterization Lab: Answers When You Need Them the Most

If you have had a heart attack or you’re showing signs of heart disease, time is of the essence. It’s critical to diagnose a problem early before it leads to more extensive complications later. A cardiac catheterization helps our experienced team of board-certified cardiologists pinpoint the issue and provide an accurate and timely diagnosis…

…because the sooner we reach a diagnosis, the sooner we can begin effective treatment.
