Nourish your baby naturally and confidently with the support of Conway Medical Center’s free Breastfeeding Support Group! This group is specially designed to offer you and your baby expert advice and a supportive community, whether you’re breastfeeding, pumping, or chestfeeding.
Led by CMC Women’s Health OBGYNs and lactation consultants from the BirthPlace at CMC, our support group provides a welcoming space to ask questions, voice concerns, and connect with other moms. You’ll also have the chance to monitor your baby’s progress with guidance from our team.
When We Meet
Join us the second Tuesday of each month from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm in the auditorium of the Private Dining Room beside the CMC Café (enter through the main lobby of CMC) for an informative and friendly in-person event. This is a non-judgmental space, focused on guiding you with love and compassion as you build strong family bonds. Whether you’re expecting or already on your breastfeeding journey, you’ll be able to share experiences, ask questions, and gain confidence in feeding your baby.
Our group is for you if you:
- Want advice on breastfeeding, pumping, or chestfeeding
- Are experiencing pain or discomfort during nursing
- Are having trouble with latching or concerned about your milk supply
- Are preparing to return to work
- Have concerns about bottle preference or weight changes in your baby
- Feel overwhelmed or uncertain about your body’s ability to produce milk
During each session, we can cover topics like:
- How to recognize your baby’s early hunger cues
- Feeding frequency and quantity for breastfed babies
- The differences in feeding patterns between breastmilk and formula
- How to assess if your baby could benefit from a cranial or oral evaluation to improve the latch
- The basics of pumping and positioning for optimal comfort and milk transfer
- Tips for treating nipple pain and using weighted feedings to track how much milk your baby is getting
- And much more based on the issues and questions our attendees have
Most importantly, this support group will help you feel connected, confident, and supported in your breastfeeding journey. You’ll meet other moms, share experiences, and know that you’re not alone in the challenges and joys of feeding your baby.
Sessions are led by caring experts, and light refreshments are provided. We understand that getting out of the house can be hard for new moms—come as you are, and don’t worry if you arrive late! We can’t wait to welcome you to this nurturing community.
