CMC announces new leadership roles for CEO and COO
Today Conway Medical Center and the Conway Medical Center Board of Trustees announced that President and Chief Executive Officer, Bret Barr, will be transitioning to a new role on December 31st, 2022.
After over 25 years of service to the Horry County community, including five as President and CEO, Mr. Barr will be moving into a new role on the CMC Board of Trustees.
“The Board of Trustees would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to Bret Barr for his vision, leadership, and dedication to our community, patients, and staff throughout his career at CMC. Over the last five years our organization has experienced a phenomenal period of growth and expansion under his direction with a vision and his abiding and inherent passion to always consider the needs of our patients first,” said Leroy Rainbow, Jr., President of the CMC Board of Trustees.
“I’ve spent over 25 years at Conway Medical Center. More than a third of my life has been dedicated to working hand in hand with our team to serve our community,” said Barr. “Serving as Chief Executive Officer for the last 5 years has been immensely rewarding. Together, we’ve added Oncology, Interventional Cardiology, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Infectious Diseases, Orthopaedics, Pain Management, Robotic Surgery, a new Acute Rehabilitation Center, a new state-of-the-art surgical center, a Certificate of Need to transfer beds to a new hospital facility, the coming together of an Inpatient Hospice service, a family medicine residency program and 17 new locations. We’ve solidified a new relationship with our neighbors at Coastal Carolina University as their Premier Medical and Innovation Partner resulting in the creation of the Conway Medical Center College of Health and Human Performance.“
The CMC Board of Trustees has voted to approve Brian Argo, currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of CMC, as the new Chief Executive Officer.
“It’s been wonderful to work with Bret, our leadership team, the Board, and of course our entire team here at CMC. I am honored to have been chosen to lead this historic organization toward this next phase in our journey. I have great confidence in our ability to continue providing the high-quality care and service CMC is known for,” said Argo.
“The time has come for a new role for me. I’m passionate about CMC and am honored to continue serving our organization in this new capacity as a member of our Board of Trustees,” said Barr. “I have great faith in Brian’s ability to continue building upon the tremendous growth over the last five years. He understands our culture, our history, and the impact we have on our community every day. While my role may be different, I’m looking forward to providing continued input and support at the Board level.”
