Applicant Requirements & Tips

Here are some tips to help you navigate the application process with CMC.

  • The single best way to apply for a postition at CMC is by searching job postings to locate a position for which you match the requirements and you are interested in.  Submitting an application for a position not only links you to that particular position but makes your application available to our CMC Human resources representatives to possibly match you for other open positions and future opportunities. Unsolicited applications and resumes submitted by email generally are not able to be saved and typically won’t receive a personalized communication
  • If you don’t see a position that you were hoping for, check back often. CMC posts hundreds of jobs every year and they are posted any day of the week Monday through Friday. We recommend a check back once weekly.
  • It’s important to take your time and answer all the questions in the application as accurately and forthright as possible. Rarely does an applicant get excluded for information they provide, but it’s possible an applicant will be excluded for failure to have shared information we need or because CMC is forced to conclude in almost every case that information was intentionally left out.
  • The most frequent applicant mistake is applying for positions for which they do not meet the minimum stated requirements. Often applicants feel as though they have nothing to lose or perhaps the application just needs to get the attention of someone to have a positive outcome. This isn’t the case.  The “Qualification” section in each job posting will very specifically indicate at the end of each item the word “required” or “preferred”.   You must match the “required” criteria for the application to be forwarded to the manager. A pattern of haphazardly, randomly, or mass applying for positions that clearly are not a match to the required criteria will be grounds to remove the application from consideration for any CMC position. For example: If the position requires a license or certification, our HR representative will be looking for that license or certification in your profile.
  • Applicants are encouraged to explore all the sections of our Careers webpage. CMC hires those that are the right fit for our organization. We want you to understand what CMC is all about and choose CMC because we are the right-fit for you too!
  • Prepare for the application process by organizing dates and information about your work history, your education, and general background. During the application completion process you may get stuck on a question that you need to research. That’s ok. You can save your work and log back in later to finish the process.
  • Allow plenty of time to complete the application process or plan to log-in later to complete in steps. The total time to complete the entire application process ranges from 30 to 90 minutes depending on comfort level.
  • The behavioral survey is a specifically required part of the application and is included in that total time. Applicants must complete the behavioral survey portion of the application process to have a completed application and be considered for positions.
  • Be sure to provide a full and complete work history. The work history is used in part to determine a pay offer when applicable.
  • No news isn’t necessarily bad news. The time to fill for a position can range anywhere from 4 days to a year. Managers move at different paces and sometimes managers won’t choose to interview until a certain number of qualified applicants has been reached. Even if an applicant isn’t selected for an interview in the first round, sometimes applicant statuses can change.
  • CMC job postings are often programed to trigger specific “quick questions” when you first click on the job posting link to apply. These positions are engineered to ensure you meet one or two major qualifications for the job. Watch for these questions and answer carefully to save yourself time. For example: If you apply for a Physical Therapist position, a quick question may ask “Do you have a Physical Therapist License”?
