Many of the patients serviced in the Medical Services Center have complex medical problems. The center is designed to care for patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. General medical care is provided for the adult and geriatric patients with acute and chronic illness not requiring telemetry monitoring 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Services may also include medication administration, pre and post dialysis care, palliative care, blood and blood product transfusions, wound care, tracheostomy care, respite care, IV therapy, and inpatient hospice. Upon admission, the patient is assessed mentally, physically and spiritually.
Some of the most frequent diagnoses include but are not limited to: hypertension, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Alzheimer's, cancer, and terminal patients for palliative care.
The Medical Services Center staffing consists of two, twelve hour shifts, 7 days a week and includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, male attendant, and unit secretary. The staff work collaboratively with the hospital physicians, case management and ancillary departments to provide and promote quality nursing care for all patients.
Visiting hours for the Medical Services Department is 8 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
