CONWAY, SC– Conway Medical Center (CMC) announced Marigrace VanDeventer, RN, BSN, IBCLC as the primary International Board Certified Lactation Consultant at CMC’s BirthPlace. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Marigrace’s lactation experience began in 2000 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA which is one of the largest birthing and lactation centers in the U.S. She continued her experience at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Kennesaw, GA.
VanDeventer is passionate about her role at CMC which involves educating and empowering breastfeeding mothers to meet their individualized goals of achieving optimal infant feeding and maternal infant bonding. Lactation services at CMC include prenatal breastfeeding classes and inpatient and outpatient consultations, as well as telephone follow-up support.
VanDeventer is involved in educating and collaborating with staff members of the Maternal Child Services team in pursuit of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Designation. The BFHI is a global program that was launched by the World Health organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in 1991. Becoming a Baby Friendly Hospital is a comprehensive, detailed and thorough path toward excellence in providing evidence-based maternity care with the primary goal of achieving the finest of infant feeding outcomes and support of the maternal infant relationship.
